Before Lamborghini became a household name amongst luxury sports car enthusiasts, it used to produce tractors. Since then, it has leapt light years forward to become a leading producer. Founded by Italian tractor maker Feruccio Lamborghini in 1963, it is now owned by Audi. With headquarters in its native town of Sant’Agata Bolognese Italy, it is one of few places where it’s common to see the car. Famous for its lustrous exterior and sleek design, the car has reached a coveted status amongst fans worldwide. Due to its prestige and limited editions, the car is viewed as a rare find. The initial Lamborghini chassis design was created by Italian engineer Gian Paolo Dallara, together with a team that included Paolo Stanzani and Bob Wallace.

The initial body was styled by Franco Scaglione, who at the time was a fairly unknown designer.

The Lamborghini 350GTV was created in only four months. It came just in time for an unveiling at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. Due to the ongoing disagreement with engine designer Giotto Bizzarrini, a working power-plant wasn’t supplied for the prototype car in time for the show. The car went on display in Turin without an engine under its hood. Instead, the engine bay filled with bricks so that the car would sit at an appropriate height above the ground. and made sure that the bonnet stayed closed to hide the missing engine. At the time, it was given only a warm response by the press.
